Can I get fibre in Torrevieja without an NIE or a Spanish bank account?

Accepted Answer

Yes. On our Expat plans a passport and a SEPA-compatible IBAN is all you need — no NIE, no account at a Spanish bank. That is the situation of most people who walk into the Torrevieja shop newly arrived: the NIE takes time, the bank takes time, and meanwhile you need internet at home. It is not a favour or an exception, it is how we work.

Question 2

Will you deal with me in my own language?

Accepted Answer

We work in Spanish, English, German, Finnish and Swedish. The part that matters is not the first day, though. If you need to cancel something later or report a fault, you are still talking to the same person in the same language. The wall almost everyone hits is not signing up — it is trying to get help six months afterwards.

Question 3

What if fibre cannot be installed in my building?

Accepted Answer

It happens, mostly in older blocks: there is a fibre box sitting in the telecoms room, but the internal ducting is obstructed and the cable cannot be pulled up to your flat. The operator cannot fix that, the community of owners has to, and it can take months. When we identify one of those buildings we tell you up front and set you up on a mobile-network connection with unlimited or near-unlimited data instead. We would rather do that than book you an installation we know will fail.

Do you do home visits in Torrevieja?

Accepted Answer

Yes, on request and subject to availability at the time. We cover Torrevieja, Orihuela Costa, Guardamar and Ciudad Quesada. Before we send anyone out we usually check two things on the phone, because they solve more calls than you would think: whether the bill is up to date, and whether the router is switched on. No judgement — we have all done a version of it. If that does not fix it, we come.

Question 5

What does fibre cost, and is there a minimum contract?

Accepted Answer

From €25.90 a month for 300 Mb, and 1 Gb for €29.90 — four euros more, so we normally point people straight at the 1 Gb. The Expat plans have no minimum term. Some other fibre plans do carry one, and we tell you before you sign rather than putting it in the small print. Telecoms prices move with promotions, so confirm the current figure with us before you order.
